Aurora’s Prince

The Aussie invasion continues!

Australian up-and-comer Brenton Twaites – great name much? – has been cast in Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent.

The actor will play Prince Phillip to Elle Fanning’s Princess Aurora.

Charming-looking fella, right?.

Welch Swan

Say her name, bitches – ’cause it’s all about Florence + the Machine.

The band has a new single off their sophomore effort, Ceremonials, and they got David LaChapelle to come out from his self-imposed video-directing sabbatical to direct an oh-so-theatrical one for them.

Check out the clip for Spectrum,” which has Florence Welch surrounded by ballerinas and in all sorts of sparkly get-ups and a fiery tiered red wig.

It’s the most modern I’ve seen the singer look – and I heart it.

The Look of MDNA

Madonna, my Queen, is kicking off her new tour in Tel Aviv tonight – click here if you wanna know what shes performing.

And this being an M concert, you know fashion is going to play a big role during the show.

So take a gander at some of the looks the one and only will be rocking on stage. They include pieces from longtime collaborators like Jean Paul Gaultier (pictured at right), as well as Prada and Miu Miu and Alexander Wang.

Gaultier clearly knows what suits M, huh. I mean, this look is classic Madonna, yet fantastically modern. Loves it.

I cannot wait to get my MDNA live on!

Royal Adam

The new Details has made a bold statement: The magazine has declared Adam Levine the new King of Pop on its cover.

Mmm, I always thought that Justin Timberlake was it.... But then he had to go and give up music for a while after bringing sexy back.

Anyway, I guess if you’ve got it you’ve got going on, right? Not that I disagree with Details, mind ya.

K Explodes

Why Kylie Minogue is not happening in America the way she should be will forever be a mystery.

No matter to her or her fans – guilty! – because we know that the Aussie pop princess is the real deal. Shes been at it for 25 years, and she aint gonna stop any time soon.

Just to prove it, the petite powerhouse has dropped a new single, Timebomb,” on the U.K. version of The Voice.

Go, Kylie. Go, go – go, Kylie!

I’ve Got the (Bieber) Fever!

For months I have been teasing a friend about how he is a Belieber.

It turns out it’s actually me who can’t get enough of Justin Bieber.

Yes, I have the Bieber Fever, people.

Good thing I never said never to the Canadian wonder – see what I did that there? – because I totally enjoy his stuff, and I am completely looking forward to going home and downloading some choice songs of his, beginning with his latest single, the R&B throwback-esque Die In Your Arms.

I like how the kid is experimenting with different sounds these days.

Update: OMG, Justin Bieber is giving us complete access, y’all.

NBC is going to air Justin Bieber Believe: Around the World on June 21. This an hour-long special chronicling his global tour and featuring performances as well as something called the “Justin-cam,” which will let fans have a look-see at life through the eyes of the Biebs himself.

Cannot wait!

Mis Tease

Les Misérables is headed back to movie theaters this Christmas, with Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean and Russell Crowe as as the heartless inspector Javert.

I know, that’s a while from now, and knowing that the film’s been directed by The King’s Speech’s Tom Hooper and that also it features Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, and Samantha Barks, among others, well, I can only imagine fans of the Victor Hugo material are just salivating in anticipation.

Good thing now we have us a teaser trailer to whet our musical appetite, featuring Anne Hathaway as Fantine singing “I Dreamed a Dream.” Check it:

Ring Leader

Hogwarts is worlds away for Emma Watson now that she’s gone hardcore-Hollywood for her next role.

The erstwhile Hermione Granger nabbed a starring role in Sofia Coppola’s based-on-a-true-story drama The Bling Ring – y’ know, the movie about the real-life fame whores who robbed the homes of actual fame whores like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.

Check out Watson in full airhead garb in the center of the photo at right. Sky-high heels? Check. Overdressed, overstyled outfit, complete with the requisite big-ass sunnies? Check. Starbucks to go? Check!

So how did the Brit prep for her most-vapid part?

“I just watched a ton of reality TV,” she said. “I was [studying at Brown], so I would go from reading Virginia Woolf to [watching] Kim Kardashian.

Yeah, that’ll do the trick.

Sweet, Wet Becks!

Well, hey, David Beckham, hey.

The footballer, who already has given us an eyeful and shown us he can rock s--- out of some undies, is putting the wet look on the map.

Check out first-ever male cover model of the U.K.’s ELLE flaunting his H-O-T bod in some real tight and soaked denim.

Nobody likes a show-off, Becks. But keep at it.

Guess Who’s Getting SEALd, Too...

Playing a SEAL of some sort is like, all the rage – just ask Bradley Cooper.

The Limitless star is joining Joel Edgerton and Chris Hemsworth in playing an elite member of the armed group, in American Sniper, the adaptation of the frank memoir by Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

Cooper is also producing the project about how Kyle came to record the highest number of sniper kills for an American.

CZ-J Is Seeing RED

Make some room, Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, and Mary-Louise Parker – Catherine Zeta-Jones wants some action, too.

The Rock of Ages star has signed on to age down the sequel to RED, the aptly titled RED 2.

Part deux of the 2010 sleeper will take place, for the most part, in Europe, and is set to go into production real soon for an August 2013 release.

Anthony Hopkins may join in on the fun, too, provided that his Thor 2 schedule can be worked out.

L2 Gets Her Dick

Looks like Lindsay Lohan’s Lifetime Elizabeth Taylor movie, Liz & Dick, is finally cookin’ with some oil (or whatever the expression is).

The powers that be have cast Grant Bowler – whom you might remember from TV’s Ugly Betty and HBO’s True Blood as Richard Burton in the project.

“Grant will add gravitas to our couple, said one of the project’s producers“He will bring to life one of the greatest actors who has ever lived.

Production on Liz & Dick is set to get started on June 4, and if you check L2’s Twitter you’ll see the actress has been hard at work choosing her Taylor-appropriate wardrobe. That is when she’s not reportedly staying up all night partying with the likes of Paris Hilton and Brandon Davis (I guess theyve all moved on past Firecrotchgate and they’re friends again).

The Trailblazin’ Stone

Emma Stone is It, It, It – and now she’s getting celebrated for it.

The Help and Amazing Spider-Man star is getting the Trailblazer Award at the June 3 MTV Movie Awards.

Uh, the wha?!

This newly created award is designed to “call out actors beloved by the MTV audience who are carving out their own unique and diverse within Hollywood.

While Stone surely fits the bill, I gotta say MTV really should give it up, already. Its awards have become a joke – yeah, both its movie awards and its Video Music Awards Moonmen because MTV clearly plays favorites or, worse, uses these shows, like the upcoming Movie Awards, as an infomercial for its parent company and its movie division’s (GTS) summer slate.

Now, having said that: Yay, Emma Stone!

Parsons Out

Jim Parsons (TV’s The Big Bang Theory) is officially out of the closet.

The Emmy-winning actor casually acknowledged his gayness in a recent New York Times profile in which he revealed that he has been in a 10-year relationship.

Good for you, Jim!

Ellen Down

I have to say Damages lost me a little when it moved from FX to DirecTV last year, but as the show’s fifth and final season nears, I am ready, willing, and, hopefully, able to catch up with what is up (when is the Season 4 DVD coming out, anyway?) in time to watch what happens next.

’Cause it’s promising to be a doozy this last season....

I mean, why is Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne) down on the ground, looking up with a frozen gaze in this new teaser? Did she fall? Did she jump off a tall Manhattan building? Or did Patty Hewes (Glenn Close) push her off the ledge?

What...is going on with these two highly dysfunctional and codependent women?

I guess we can begin to find out when Damages returns to DirecTV on July 11.

The New Husband

Joel Edgerton’s loss is James McAvoy’s gain.

The X-Men: First Class star is taking over the male lead in The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby now that the Aussie actor has had to bow out of the intriguing project.

So, McAvoy will headline the Him part of this two-separate feature cinematic experiment that Ned Benson (In Defiance of Gravity) is writing and directing.

Yes – The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby will be told from two points of view: one McAvoy’s and the other (the Her part) Jessica Chastain’s, actually (so you know I’m totally into it ’cause I’m totally into her).

Time to Get Great

It’s here, its finally here – a trailer for Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming The Great Gatsby is here.

And it. Looks. Major.

Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, and Joel Edgerton look lovingly photographed as they go from one dazzling party to another, roaring in the wealth of their 1922 New York City lives. Check it out:

Be Christmas, already. Please, please, be Christmas, already!

Western Nat

Natalie Portman is going to show off her mama bear instincts in her next project.

The Oscar winner is attached to star in Jane Got a Gun, a western about a woman forced to defend her home after a bunch of outlaws come a-knockin’ and lookin’ to kill her barely alive husband.

Based on a Black List screenplay (GTS), the project has been generating quite a bit of buzz at the Cannes Film Festival.

Portman in spurs? Yes, please!

JT Wants to Be a Composer

Justin Timberlake is sooo into doing the movie thing right now it’s just not even funny.

The multi-hyphenate is set to compose the soundtrack and the score for The Devil in the Deep Blue Sea, a new indie that will star Jeffrey Dean Morgan, JT’s fiancée Jessica Biel, and, possibly, Chloë Grace Moretz.

So, I guess, in a way, the guy is getting back to the music side of his business, somewhat, right?

Anyway, the movie will follow a grieving widower (that would be Morgan, who you can see these days on Starz’s Magic City) who recently lost his wife (Biel) in a car accident and who finds some solace by helping a smarty-pants girl (Moretz) fulfill her dream of building a raft to sail across the Atlantic.

Back to the Bureau for Laughs

Sandra Bullock is teaming up with Melissa McCarthy for us to have a good time.

Uh, yeah – the erstwhile Miss Congeniality is going back to the FBI.

Bullock is going to play the uptight bureau agent to McCarthy’s unconventional Boston cop in a new project to be directed by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig.

The untitled buddy comedy is being written by Katie Dippold, a scribe of TV’s Parks and Recreation.
